Meet Dr. Edwards (Dr. E)
Dr. Christina Edwards is an Atlanta native and comes from a long bloodline of educators. She is a seasoned educator and has served a gamut of roles, such as Presenter, Trainer, Mentor, Curriculum Developer, Academic Coach, Literacy Instructional Leader, and Curriculum & Instruction Administrator. She is the former Teacher of the Year and district’s semi-finalist and was honored with the Georgia Council of Teachers of English (GCTE) award, which is an affiliation of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) organization. Additionally, she was featured on the cover of Atlanta’s Best Self-magazine to memorialize her work with students, faculty, parents, and the community. She was formerly Director of an alternative center for at-risk middle and high school students. Under her leadership, 91% of students were able to successfully transition back to their home school and get back on track in order to move to the next grade level. Additionally, she was a Teacher Performance Assessor (TPA), with the world's largest education company, where she assessed a culmination of teacher interns' teaching materials, lesson plans, formative and summative assessment data, and the teaching and learning processes that demonstrated teacher effectiveness.
Dr. Edwards is a graduate of Fort Valley State University (Middle Grades Education), University of Phoenix (Curriculum and Instruction), and earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. Although she has achieved proficiently in her professional career, learning is ongoing and there is so much more that she hopes to accomplish. She is the founder of iCoach Teachers Education Specialists, LLC where her and her team provides engaging and effective training and coaching to K-12 public and private schools in some of the following areas: Cultural Proficiency, Literacy and Writing, Classroom Management, Data Analysis, and Effective Instructional Practices. Additionally, she supports new teachers and coaches them as they transition into their new role as an instructor where the goal is for each teacher to become a more effective instructor while increasing student achievement. She is the author of Achieving Success in Inner City Schools: A Guide for New and Seasoned Teachers. Dr. Edwards enjoys traveling, reading inspirational books, and working with adult learners; she looks forward to her many endeavors.
